This year has been amazingly hard for me, but at the same time very good to me. It has opened my eyes to different perspectives on life and a new style of thinking.
The Bad: My mother had to be put in a nursing home for severe dementia in February. She left my sister and me in charge of everything. She also left us to deal with a ton of bill collectors, a house neither of us could do anything with (that’s a whole nother story), no money, and of course, having to set her up with Medicaid, Medicare, getting her VA benefits transferred to the home (that one was frustrating!) And I’m still trying to get her SSI benefits transferred to the home-the lady in the finance department of the VA home looked me in the eye and told me she was not interested in filling out the paperwork to receive my mothers check. Hmmm… must be nice to be able to sit on your “you know what” all day and do nothing.
What can I say, I have a higher work ethic than that, and I enjoy helping people? If it wasn’t for her the Va Home would be receiving a B+ to A grade from me, but they are balancing at the C range.
My sister decided to drop out of the races months ago and, oops, she didn’t take care of the things she said she would. During taking care of all of my mom’s stuff I ended up overstressed and had severe bouts of anxieties. I thought I was out of the woods a few months ago until a couple of surprises landed on my doorstep (the things my sister didn’t do!) I have never dealt with anxieties like this so it really freaked me out when I was put in that situation and had to backtrack to fix the issues my loving sister left me . And the stress set me on a nasty course of adrenal fatigue.
The Good: I started taking nutritional classes to keep my body as healthy as I could on the wild ride that was my year. And I loved it so much I continued my education. I graduated with an A in the class. I wasn’t sure I was capable of taking the course at the time, but I’m so happy I did. I am now officially a Nutrition Coach:) Between all of my naps, dealing with government agencies, working, and taking the nutrition classes I also got a shove from the universe to practice Reiki. Yes! I am a Reiki master too:)
Thinking back on the year I realized I may have ended up in the hospital or taking a ton of prescription drugs if it hadn’t been for eating right, taking a few supplements, and having the ability to use Reiki to keep my energy balanced. I still have a couple of things of mom’s to take care of, and it has taken time to rebuild my health because unfortunately, too much stress can cause a whole number of issues in your body, your mind, and your spirit. But now I feel like I’m at the point where I can get back into the swing of things. And my goal is to start writing again by the new year.
*Nutrition changed my perspective on the way I look at food. My body craves the right nutrition and it doesn’t come in the form of a multi-vitamin. I’ve always been a healthy eater and an avid hiker, but with the traveling on short notice, the stress, the anxieties, and the constant bombardment of phone calls, work, and the need for sleep I lost my way for a while. Most of the time I just wasn’t hungry and when I really needed food I couldn’t find anything healthy to eat! Needless to say, I’ve only been on a handful of hikes this year and I really miss them.
*Every time I go out into nature now, I just started again last week, it’s like I’m seeing the beauty of our state for the first time. And Wow! New Mexico is like heaven right here on earth!
*Reiki and energy work has changed my perspective on life as a whole. It has helped bring my health back quicker than I thought and I look for the positive in situations more than I ever have. (Except for working with big corporations and the government, I can’t seem to jump the hurdle into positivity with those yet:) And unless something shifts and changes there I may never be able to.
I opened my own business https://www.facebook.com/Tigereyehealing/ which leads to my confession. I have been writing under the pen name Lynn Thompson. Not surprising I know, many people write under pen names. If you would like to know who I am, visit my FaceBook page. If you like what you see give the page a like Please:)
