Excerpt from WIDE AWAKE ASLEEP – a paranormal, time travel romance.

I thought I heard a voice, and I cocked my head, but the sound was carried away on a gust of wind. The feeling of hands touching my body subsided and I was left in this paradox universe, where I was me inside someone else’s body.

I looked down at myself and the first thing I saw was a plaid skirt, then thick tights which sagged at the knees and ankles.

My heart began to beat in horror. No, no. Please, God, no.

My hands touched the stained cardigan over my large droopy breasts. Up further to my face…

My hands recoiled.

I felt a moustache!

I gasped in horror. I was ‘Auntie’ Iris Grimshaw!

It was bad enough being goofy Sarah Marshall, but now I had a moustache! And a bloody monobrow!

Iris began to walk, and I felt a sharp pain in my hip. I slowed, but the pain persisted. It shot down my left leg every time my foot touched the ground. No wonder the old sod was grouchy. Ouch!

It looked to be a very early morning, judging by the dew sparkling on the grass and hedgerows. It was cool, but not overly so, and there were leaves on the trees. Summer again. I wondered at the year. The village didn’t look any different at first, but then I saw the beginnings of new houses being built opposite the village hall. So Potterspury did move on.

Bio:

Louise Wise is a British writer and has been weaving stories all her life—even before she could actually write! For many years, she was a ‘closet writer’, and has a cupboard is full of ageing manuscripts depicting fantastical romantic adventures.

Most of her books have an element of romance, but tend to cross over into other genres, giving them a unique edge.

Her debut novel is the best-selling sci-fi romance EDEN, which was followed by its sequel HUNTED in 2013.

A PROPER CHARLIE is a romantic comedy written purely for the chick lit market, but then she decided to unite her love of all things supernatural with romance and OH NO, I’VE FALLEN IN LOVE and WIDE AWAKE ASLEEP came along.

Her other works include SCRUFFY TRAINERS (a collection of short stories with a twist). She has written numerous short stories for women’s magazines including Women’s Own and Take a Break.

She loves hearing from her readers – the good, the bad and the ugly stuff they want to share!
