Introducing–>> Sue Perry

As this weeks Featured Author

6569227I’ve had a lot of jobs and several careers – but writing is the only work that has ever mattered. To confirm this, I’ve been a: warehouse clerk, secretary, retail clerk, substitute teacher, bookkeeper, government bureaucrat. Motion picture story analyst, low budget TV producer. Scientific research internship director. Earthquake consultant. Professor. Disaster scientist.

In 1992, I published my first novel, the psychological thriller Was It A Rat I Saw, now available as an ebook everywhere. Somehow 20 years elapsed and in 2012 I published the literary fiction Scar Jewelry, which is currently available as an ebook and trade paperback. 2014 welcomed book 1 in the FRAMES series, Nica of Los Angeles.

So I am a seasoned yet new writer, thanks to that 20-year hiatus. One great change while I was away was the rise of social media, and I would love to connect with you – here, on my blog, or on Twitter.

I lives in southern California, where I’m the mother of twins and companion to multiple non-humans, currently 5 (not a typo. 5.) cats and 1 dog. I love books, live music, beaches, mountains, nature, and the internet. If I had all the money in the world I would have an abode in each of its great cities.

1706532A young brain scientist, Dr. Clare Austen, must crack the secrets in the mind of a patient who can not remember witnessing the murder of her mentor. A first novel.

17230136A misfit group of scientists and tech whizzes form a detective agency in order to solve crimes and right wrongs. In this, the first book of a series, they investigate the death of a renowned volcano scientist. He dies in a volcanic eruption in what everyone considers a terrible accident. Everyone except his widow, who insists he was murdered

16126342What do we really know about our parents or the ways they shape us? For twins Deirdre and Langston, 20, the answer is: not enough. Their father died before they were born and now, when a car crash puts their mother in a coma, the siblings suddenly realize they don’t even know whom to notify. They’ve never questioned how little they know about their mother. Like many offspring, they assume there’s not much to know.

It’s been a rough year for narrator Deirdre, who has stalled out after personal setbacks she won’t discuss – not even with Langston – and who fears she is just like their mother, a woodwork dweller. Langston never faces such worries. Her twin in name only, his dynamic style and achievements have launched him across the continent into a top university and flourishing social life – all of which he will compromise as they unravel their mother’s past.

As Deirdre and Langston question friends and acquaintances, snoop, and hack emails, a portrait emerges that barely resembles the mother they know. She has masterfully disguised her history – and theirs. For starters, they discover that their father died four years after their birth. Why manufacture such a lie? Proliferating questions and unsettling answers await them before they finally learn why. As they come to understand choices their mother made that swerved their life paths as well as hers, they must ultimately reconsider their mother, their memories, and themselves.

Set in the present and the early days of punk, this work of literary fiction tackles themes of identity in an original way. Deep but lighthearted, compelling and moving, it is a page-turner with elements of mystery, psychology, family drama, and rites of passage across two generations, in a setting that vividly evokes southern California, then and now.

Literary fiction by the author of the Was It A Rat I Saw?.

Author: lynnthompsonbooks

Lynn Thompson’s home is in the Land of Enchantment, and, yes, the land is enchanting. The skies are blue, the stars are bright., and there are beautiful panoramic landscapes surrounding her hometown. Lynn wades through the craziness of life to follow her true passion, writing fiction. You can find her, or not, trekking through the mountains, searching for fairies and vortexes, keeping her eye out for anything paranormal, or sitting in the hot springs in her spare time. Lynn doesn’t have a specific genre she writes in. Characters have a way of leading her stories. She follows. Lynn is also a sponge when it comes to knowledge. She’s always on the move to continue her education in writing, marketing, social media, digital media, and hopes to find the extra time to add some criminal investigation classes to her repertoire. Lynn has three novels out: Blake, Sterling, and Tarnished Gold. Blake is the beginning of Montana’s story. Her need for seclusion, at least, for one winter. She does not get what she wants. There is someone or something in the mountains stalking her, people keep showing up on her doorstep, and she meets Max. Max knows what is hunting Montana, but won’t tell her. Montana’s lack of trust in Max drives her to fix her own problems. If she had known what she’d be confronting that night, she never would have sedated Max. Sterling is the second novel in the Montana Dayton series. Montana moves to Florida hoping to escape her old life, and regain her normal life back, but her past has come back to haunt her. Not only does she start losing time, she continues to wake up every morning wearing gorgeous jewels and is surrounded by precious gems. She never remembers where, or who she’s getting the glittery baubles from and is hell bent to get back her memories and return the jewels. Afraid she has been out robbing houses in the middle of the night, she is determined to figure out what is happening on her own. That is until the dreams and the strong pull to explore the gulf. When she finally realizes she needs help, she is powerless to get it. Tarnished Gold is Sam’s story and will be coming out around the new year. Sam first appeared in Sterling and demanded her own novel. Lynn has bowed to Sam’s wishes and is writing that story now. Lynn is also the proud owner of: Dark Fates. Eight short stories that are fun, but still on the dark side. Dark Fates-Madness. Four dark short stories. News Worthy. News Worthy stands alone with five short stories. Watching the news first thing in the morning may not be fun, but dissecting news clips and re-writing them into short stories that had a different ending was a blast! Dark Fates Collections is compiled of Dark Fates, Dark Fates-Madness, News Worthy, and features Karma Shay’s adventures.
