Gilded Wings: The Angel Chronicles, Book 2-Excerpt-Giveaway

Gilded Wings Summary

The Beloved Angel-Warrior Team from Until Next Time Returns!

When Matt and Emily are sent on their second mission they have no idea how truly dark human nature can become…

Emily never wanted to face humans again. With the heartache that went on down below, she’s still trying to figure out how to save souls that don’t deserve saving. The only one she wants to see again is Jason – the young man she fell in love with who became the soulmate she simply can’t forget…

Matt was trained to protect and defend the souls down below. Longing to feel the heartfelt emotions that come from being human, Matt wants nothing more than to have just one life – one chance – to live and love the girl of his dreams…

The powerful team find themselves in a brand new century, living in the Gilded Age of New York City. Emily takes over the body of Anya, a young Russian girl who arrives on Ellis Island after a hideous tragedy. There she meets up with a strangely familiar young man by the name of Drew Parrish, who helps Anya survive in an unknown world of luxury, snobbery and…obsession.

What Anya’s inner angel doesn’t know is that the soul she loves is also back. This time around Jason goes by the name of Max Carrow. Once a quiet and kind boy, he’s now part of the ‘Four Hundred Club,’ and wants nothing more than to be among the most admired as he climbs the shaky ladder of society’s elite.

As two worlds merge, Emily and Matt struggle under the weight of their “Gilded Wings.” Not only will they have to figure out who they should fight to save, but they must also face a romantic choice that could destroy them both.

“Not true,” he corrected. “I think Mitchell is a fine man and he’s certainly not starving for cash.”

Hope laughed. “Anyway, the really fun ones are Astor and Vanderbilt. Talk about high society,” she whistled, as they turned the corner and walked by what Hope referred to as the Vanderbilt Mansion. It was a grand house that sat on the corner of the wide street, decorated with a waterfall of windows that glittered in the bright morning sunshine. Anya gasped as she took in the regal size of the place.

“That’s not even half of it,” Hope said, staring up at the grandeur. “All these families have other houses—summer cottages, they’re called. Cottages, humph,” she continued, releasing the air from her lungs. “Their cottages rival some of our Southern plantations, let me tell you.”

Anya laughed out loud at the wide violet eyes of her escort.

“The Astor family has a gorgeous cottage called, Beechwood. Caroline, that’s Mrs. Astor, is very heavily into the social scene. She holds the summer ball every year and invites everyone in the Four Hundred Club.”

“What’s that?”

Hope grabbed her arm. “It’s the elite, child; the best of the best. It’s the Yankees social register. You have to be accepted by Mrs. Astor before you can even think of being accepted by the rest of society. Mitchell, of course, is part of the Four Hundred.”

“Not that he cares,” Drew reminded her.

A Special Note from the Author:
The Local Library

I remember when I was a kid and went to work with my mother. We lived in an extremely small town where one of the only buildings of note was the library. Big, bold, made of stone – this was the place where I would spend my afternoons and some Saturdays walking through the small rooms and reveling in that amazing scent that only comes from books.
The children’s room had all your friends waiting for you; from The Cat in the Hat to Paddington Bear to Ferdinand the Bull. And the small, highly polished wooden steps led to an upper floor filled with the words of all the masters of science, art, history and more. Up there were the classics that every person on earth should, at one time or another, read.

I am a true fan of eBooks; I am a fan of being able to download a tale that you love in seconds and for hardly any money when compared to the hardcover version. I love the world of social media where authors and readers can come together and share their opinions, comments, and add their voices to the world of reading. But…the library can NOT die.

Librarians are mentors; they’re the faces that you remember from when you were a kid. You would walk in and they talked to you about the new releases and even ask you about your life and what was new (in the small towns, anyway). At the drop of a hat, they could answer any question you had. I swear this is true. My mother, the librarian, knew all the authors, books, genres, what was new, what was available for your next school report – everything. (She still does, in fact)

The librarian is actually one of those mystical creatures who carry a card catalogue of information in their own mind. I suppose that’s why one of my favorite characters in literature is a librarian by the name of Leah who works at the NYPL, and has a mind that solves the most impossible mysteries. She appears in the Tallent & Lowery series, with the first tale titled, 13. I am a little biased where Leah is concerned because she’s my creation, but she is an ode to the librarian who always had the answer to some of the oddest questions and most amazing puzzles of all time.

On December 1st, I will share Leah with everyone when 13 comes to stores. But my favorite duo – Emily and Matthew – are in eBook, and I love that. I love the fact that they’re reaching readers across the globe, and I completely support the technological realm we live in.

When I hear news, however, of a library being shut down, it makes me cry. These are the buildings of knowledge; inside, they hold a million dreams, fantasies, adventures, thrills and chills, romance…and should NOT disappear. If we lose our libraries, we lose an asset that has been treasured for a good, long time.

So walk into your local library one of these days – see the shelves – take in the scent of the new and the old masters and mistresses of fiction and non- coming together and think about the majesty of that building. Inside the doors of your library awaits an adventure you could not possibly imagine – and one you will never forget!

 Until Next Time, Everybody,

Until Next Time: The Angel Chronicles, Book 1 Summary

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the ‘life’ they’ve been assigned. What they don’t realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz’s establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel’s path and a warrior’s plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that’s ripping them apart.

Sterling is the second novel in the Montana Dayton series. Montana moves to Florida hoping to escape her old life, and regain her normal life back, but her past has come back to haunt her. Not only does she start losing time, she continues to wake up every morning wearing gorgeous jewels and is surrounded by precious gems. She never remembers where, or who she’s getting the glittery baubles from and is hell bent to get back her memories and return the jewels. Afraid she has been out robbing houses in the middle of the night, she is determined to figure out what is happening on her own. That is until the dreams and the strong pull to explore the gulf. When she finally realizes she needs help, she is powerless to get it. Tarnished Gold is Sam’s story and will be coming out around the new year.
