Owlet Summary

Somewhere between falling and flying… there is a girl.

Iris has a secret. She lost her memory eight years ago and never told a living soul. After an asthma attack one night she finds out that her dreams of a strange house on a snowy island may be a memory resurfacing but the more she learns about the past the more she realizes the life she has been living is a lie. As the façade her father has built starts to crumble around her she will have to decide which means more to her; the truth or her life.

Read-Along Excerpt

Iris felt her eyes go wide and her heart began to flutter. For a moment she just held on to her inhaler wondering if she was having a heart attack or if her asthma was somehow magically doing this odd thing to her heart. She looked around at the trees and Joseph called out to the dog that went running back to his side.

“Ungrateful brutish dog! You know not to tackle her,” he said to the retriever as it happily wagged its tail and responded with a soft bark, making Joseph laugh.

“Go on and find a place. Show her the island while you are at it.” Joseph told Falcon who looked at Iris and smiled. “Get her back to the house safely when you are done. I will stop by there and see how the garden is tending.”

“Joseph…” Iris said hesitantly, biting her lip. “When you are there would you mind telling Diana that I am all right, but not mention where I am or who I am with? I don’t want to talk to her right now.”

“Sure thing. You keep that young man in check now, y’hear?” he said, giving her a wide smile. Falcon seemed to be moving ahead but he hadn’t moved fast enough for Iris not to see him blush.

“Thank you,” Iris said and then turned to follow Falcon. She wanted to be afraid of him, of everything. But the voice inside of her was pushing her forward and comforting her all at once, making her feel at ease and safe.

He helps. Follow him and remember yourself. Calm down so that we can go back to the house with an open mind and heart. You are safe here.
