A friend of mine Vickie McKeehan (author of the Evil trilogy and more) asked if I’d participate in The Next Big Thing Blog Hop and I couldn’t say no. These blog hops are always fun and they are a great way to introduce new authors to readers.

I was asked to answer ten questions about my work in progress then tag other authors to do the same.
Enjoy!

1: What is the working title of your book?

Tarnished Gold- A Samantha Sungold Novel

2: Where did the idea come from for the book?

In my last novel Sterling, Samantha was introduced as a new character and I have had many people who would like to know more about her so she is getting her very own novel.

3: What genre does your book fall under?

YA, paranormal

4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

Hmm… I can’t answer that question, I’m not big on watching TV. But the actress for Samantha would have to be a teenage blonde, not too skinny, and kind of shy.

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

I eyed the open door to the secret passageway. Here goes nothing, I thought to myself as I walked into the darkness.

6: Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Self Publish.

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I can’t honestly say, I write notes in my notebook that I think would be good in my novels and then my drafts change constantly to flow with the chapters and what the characters are up to. I can’t depend on  my drafts to stay within the borders I set, when I start writing the scenes come racing at me. I have written many first drafts and realized that the characters have their own story to tell, but I do try to stay within my original ideas.

8: What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I haven’t found any other books in my genre to compare this book to. I am sure there are some out there though, I just haven’t found them yet:)

9: Who or What inspired you to write this book?

Samantha Sungold, of course. She kept whispering in my ear that she wanted her story told!

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

Samantha is used to being on her own and is shy. She’s not as confident as she would like to be around other teens her age and has no idea how to act around them. Throw in those teens who continue to include her in their gang, dead pirates, a not so nice tutor and witchcraft, along with her forgotten memories coming back to her full force and Sorry there aren’t any vampires or werewolves in this book:)

I’d like to thank all of the authors who are participating in The Next Big Thing with me. Please show them some appreciation and visit their links.
